In 1960, the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat wrote the following about Arpainen.

“Sweet was the traveller’s sigh as he threw his heavy bag off and sat down on the stool in the cabin, having made the arduous wilderness journey from Peltokangas. But as soon as the bag fell, so too fell his earthly troubles. For here the nature was so kind, the peace so amazing and deep, that it thoroughly invigorated those who were tired. The wild nature of Arpainen, its wuthering ridges and shining waters create such rapture and breathe out such peace as can only be provided by the great outdoors.” (Helsingin Sanomat 23.8.1960.)
